The Jon dining table is a 3x1 meter-long dining table. The client wanted a bespoke dining table for his apartment. We wanted to create something iconic and playful. The table plate is made of oak because of its hard and robust characteristics. The legs are made of pigmented ash. Ash was chosen as the leg material because it is easier to tint with color than oak. Each leg is given a distinct color, and since ash is still a type of hardwood, it became the preferred solution for the legs. The legs have a cruciform shape and penetrate the table plate. These different colored crossed legs are the ornament of the design, providing a distinct identity and recognizable character to the table. We wanted to keep the table as simple as possible. The cruciform legs are meant to have the visual appearance of columns, making them as much part of the floor as they are part of the table itself.
